Aoife Mac Alister (ARIAM, BA, BMus, MMus, HDipPhil, MISM) completed her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees at University College Dublin and the Master of Music degree at King’s College London, which she was awarded with distinction. Aoife also holds the RIAM Certificate in Piano Performance, and the ARIAM diploma in piano teaching.

Aoife studied with Brian Beckett at the Royal Irish Academy of Music for over ten years and has been a prizewinner in numerous piano and chamber music competitions and festivals across Ireland.

She was awarded the Royal Irish Academy of Music’s Gold Medal in Piano Performance with Distinction and has been the recipient of a number of other special awards, including the Aer Rianta Young Musician of the Year award and a Permanent TSB High Achiever award.

Aoife has broad experience in piano and music teaching, most recently at Mezzo Music Academy, a renowned private music academy in Dublin. Aoife has pursued teaching as a specialism over the last number of years after having experienced RSI and carpal tunnel injuries.

A blessing in disguise, these obstacles resulted in an ongoing journey of learning, research, and professional development encompassing musicology, physiology, psychology, philosophy, mindfulness, pedagogy, and history.

Aoife’s experience means that she is uniquely placed to understand and coach students returning to the piano after a number of years or those just beginning to explore.

Aoife believes it is never too late to start, or restart, that musical journey. She endeavours to share what she has learned along the way, making sure students have the tools and learning techniques they need to achieve assured, free, and fulfilling piano playing.
