MARIA PALAZIAN

Maria Palazian is a world-class music educator well known in her field for combining innovation with cutting-edge teaching techniques that empowers her students to become the best they possibly can be. Maria is not just a passionate teacher/musician, she is a music coach with an exceptional eye for strategy, details, and planning to create powerful musical experiences for her students regardless of their level, age, background, or musical interests.

Maria Palazian is an Armenian/Lebanese pianist, who was raised in a musical family. She started playing the piano when she was five years old, and her first teacher was her mother. Later, she continued her studies with professional teachers in the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory (LNHC) with whom she learned the basic piano techniques and played a collection of pieces that made her have a deeper interest in and seek a deeper understanding of music. In 2020 she received her Master’s degree in Music Education and Performance from Trinity-Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Along her musical journey, she studied Education (with an emphasis on math and sciences) at Haigazian University in Lebanon. After graduation, she held several professional roles, in the music department. Through these experiences, she had the chance to work with and educate different age groups of pupils ranging from 5 to 55 years old as well as different ranging abilities from beginners to advanced.

Besides teaching music, Maria has worked with different conductors and accompanying different choirs. She has been the accompanist of the “Shnorhali” choir of the Armenian Catholicosate, the “Fayha” Choir, with whom she traveled and performed in France, Tunisia, and Abu Dhabi, “Rawdat El Fayha,” “Dzirani,” and “Armiss” choirs. She has over seventeen years of experience accompanying choirs and has over four years of experience arranging music.

In the past few years, as a soloist and accompanist, she has performed in different venues in Lebanon and London, and she has won many awards, including 3rd prize of Margo Babikian Solo Piano Competition in Lebanon and 1st prize of Lillian Ash French Song voice and piano Competition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

At the beginning of 2020, Maria completed her master’s in Music Education and Piano Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Maria has invented a wide variety of teaching techniques such as inventing a piano practice game for students as well as developed a scale method for piano teachers worldwide, targeting how to teach scales and arpeggios without using finger numbers which have been widely acclaimed in the music education industry.
