SIWAN RHYS

CONTEMPORARY MUSIC

UK’s leading contemporary classical pianist. Modest, compassionate, downright talented. Her gentle guidance combined with Olympic pianistic precision makes Siwan a one of a kind teaching personality. Generously patient with a calming presence on students.

Since she joined LCSP 7 years ago, her teaching diary has been booked out, as most students who work with Siwan never leave, due to her expertise and world-class authority, combined with much humour and empathy.

Siwan’s website is indicative of her international presence on the contemporary music scene.

PERFORMANCES

Siwan has played at Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall, St David’s Hall, Purcell Room, and as part of the BBC Proms and Aldeburgh Festival. She has also performed in alternative concert settings with initiatives such as Nonclassical, Live Music Now, and Multi-Story, and has recorded many times for BBC1, S4C, BBC Radio 3, and BBC Radio Cymru.

She’s worked with the London Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Mahogany Opera Group, Gare St Lazare Ireland, Rambert Dance, and Multi-Story Orchestra, with conductors François-Xavier Roth, Oliver Knussen, George Benjamin, Jesús López Cobos, Richard Baker, and Elgar Howarth amongst others.

Recent concerts include performances of Charles Ives’ ‘Concord Sonata’ in France as part of the Oeuvres Monstres series, Viver’s Shiraz at the Occupy the Pianos festival, several performances of Stockhausen’s Kontakte, and Feldman’s four-hour masterpiece For Philip Guston at the Principal Sound Festival.

CONTEMPORARY SPECIALIST

Siwan’s wealth of contemporary music experience and rare specialist technical expertise puts her in extremely high demand at the London Contemporary School of Piano from music producers, DJ’s, Classical pianists who require more contemporary knowledge, pianists who require precise technique as well as those who study our Contemporary Harmony Method.
